In a far, far away land called Kyuuka Region, Pokemon are disappearing. Professor Rose has cried out for help and trainers from all around are coming for what is fast becoming the greatest tournament of the century. A group of five will be chosen to discover what is happening to the Pokemon. What they don't know is that not one but two teams are behind the disappearances. Team Kuro is determined to free the Pokemon, believing that they are being imprisoned by trainers, breeders and other humans. Sadly, they are willing to do almost anything to free them, as they don't hold the same regard of humans. Team Dark Shade, the polar opposite, a group of extremely evil trainers that have a bad history with Team Kuro. Chelsea wants to make it so that only Team Dark Shade can have Pokemon, and won't stop until she rules the Kyuuka Region. She is stealing Pokemon and putting them into machines created by her kidnapped scientists. This machine turns normal Pokemon into shadows of themselves. They turn dark and are filled with hate. They obey no natural laws, but only their controllers and Chelsea.
